Video: CBS News provides a video update about a protest in support of Ken Bencomo. As mentioned in a post from yesterday, a Catholic school in Glendale, California, fired Bencomo after he married his same-sex partner. (See below or click “Read More.”)
Supporters of fired gay Catholic school teacher Ken Bencomo are planning a 9:00 a.m. (PDT) protest this morning at St. Lucy’s Priory High School in Glendora, California. The school fired Bencomo, who had taught at St. Lucy’s for 17 years, shortly after he married his same-sex partner.
The protest’s Facebook page calls on those who attend to “[c]ome with powerful voices, ready to sing our Alma Mater and show the [school] administration — ‘We Are That Change!'” The page urges participants to “be respectful and mindful of the values instilled in us,” adding that “Mr. B always demanded that we act with class, [let’s] make him proud.” [Click here for an August 9 update.]
