A major study out of Vanderbilt University’s Peabody Research Institute provides further evidence that student gay-straight alliances (GSAs) are linked to positive outcomes for students and schools.

Vanderbilt researchers Robert Marx and Heather Hensman Kettrey conducted a “meta-analysis” of 15 independent studies covering almost 63,000 high school students, finding that students at schools with a GSA were, among other things, 52% less likely to hear homophobic remarks and 36% less likely to fear for their safety.

An article on the study appears here; the study itself is available through this site.
